The United States Government has a special relationship with some American Indian or Alaskan Native tribes. These tribes are called Federally recognized tribes.

These tribes rule themselves and receive some benefits from the Unites States because of their connections. Some of those benefits are education, law enforcement, courts, and resource protection.
